Effects of Z. heitzii extracts on the integrity of mitochondrial membrane. HL-60 cells were treated with extract and incubated 1 h with 200 nM of Rh-123 and then analyzed by flow cytometry. Data presented are the fluorescence intensity at different concentrations of extract; Control; 20 μg/mL; 50 μg/mL; 100 μg/mL. (5A) MeOH fruit extract; (5B) MeOH bark extract. (5C) graphic representation of mitochondrial damage of HL-60 cells treated with the two extracts of Z. heitzii for 24 h. The fluorescence in the cells is represented as the percentage the mitochondrial damage immediately analyzed using flow cytometry.
