Schematic diagram showing translational processing of non structural and structural proteins of rubella. The rubella genome consists of two non overlapping ORF, the 5′ ORF codes for the non-structural proteins and 3′ ORF codes for the structural proteins. The 5′ ORF is translated to poly protein precursor p200 which is then cleaved to produce the non-structural proteins p150 and p90. The 3′ ORF is translated to poly protein precursor p100, which subsequently undergoes post translational modification to form the final mature capsid (C) and envelop protein (E1 and E2)
