This cartoon depicts the cascade of events in HT22 cells following SFN was added into cell culture medium. SFN binds to its receptor on the cell membrane, causing Nrf2 translocating into nucleus. Nrf2 activated HO-1 expressions by binding to the specific sites on DNA double strand. The activating of Nrf2/HO-1 pathway decreases the productions of NF-κB and ROS, therefore increasing cell survival
